Wow where does the time go?! How did it get from the middle of winter to the steamy mid-summer so fast? Guess- to quote John Lennon- “ Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans”- hah I’ll say!
I don’t recall all the events of the last 6 months…There was a trip to Sedona to meet with several fellow life coaches and intuitive practitioners to compare notes (lovely and informative)… and there was my significant other’s departure from a long held job to start his own company (a bold and successful move I’m happy to report)…then there was a juicy acting role opposite Bruce Willis and comedian Tracy Morgan in their upcoming movie (a cop- buddy comedy , I am in the opening scene, was fun to act with those guys and brush up on my acting chops) and then the writing of my book “Vibrant Body By Penotti”- (ok well I haven’t written it- but did the final research for the book and it having reached its critical mass is aching to be put to paper – soon very soon! )…and well I can go on and on… There were some not so great events (my dad’s heart surgery and subsequent difficult recovery among other things) but what was constant throughout was my feeling of peace and gratefulness to just be alive and have the gift of life for whatever amount of hours I get to be in it. Wasn’t always like this but after a super draining year in 2006 I began taking a more pared down and moderate approach to life. Less multi-tasking and more being present to whatever I’m in the midst of right now- has helped bring enormous peace to my life…No matter what the state of the world, the ups and downs of our lives, I truly am taking it a moment at a time. And I’ve learned we can choose to see peace instead of fear ( or anger, impatience, frustration, worry). Granted I believe this is a muscle to build, a habit to develop- but wow does this pay off in big dividends in terms of serenity in my life. (Looks like I have a theme going here from my blog of Feb 2009 to now! )
So there it is, plain and simple. And because I have greatly simplified my life, and find joy in the simple pleasures – such as a good night’s sleep, a delicious meal with my family, sunshine walks, fun with my boyfriend and our dogs, a long, hot shower- you get the picture~ it’s been easier to maintain peace in my life. It’s not so cluttered anymore, so there’s space for inspiration and wiggle room to just breathe and be.
I am passionate about helping others to simplify and “moderate” all aspects their lives, and here are my top ten tips for this:
1- Get enough sleep and rest. Make this a priority and watch your life change through just this one step.
2- Exercise every day- yep every day!- for 30 minutes. Vary the exercise.
3- Eat raw, fresh fruits and vegetables , preferably organic, as the main part of your diet.
4- Meditate or read spiritual scripture for at least 5 minutes- longer if possible- every morning and evening. (I love A Course in Miracles and Byron Katie). Such a beautiful cushion this provides for your day, or as a seque into sleep.
5- Get sunshine on your body for at least 30 minutes per day.
6- Have warm, loving, honest relationships.
7- Get in touch with what you love to do and find a way to share it and serve others through it.
8- Laugh and smile alot. Look for the humor everywhere.
9- Turn off most of the electronics in the house to “de-wire” yourself…and go outside and put your bare feet on the ground, dirt, sand to “ground” yourself..
10- Love yourself, imperfections and all…
I love you. Happy days to all and speak again soon!
